Black Ceramic Coated Scissors

Black ceramic coatings are attractive and suitable for surgical instruments. The two most prominent mechanical properties of the black coating when it is applied to stainless steel surgical instrument are its extreme hardness and improved abrasion resistance. The anti-glare surface minimizes reflections off the surface of your instruments.

Ceramic coatings are made by using an environmentally friendly PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) process to add a layer of Titanium Aluminum Nitrate (TiAIN) to the instrument. A high purity target made up of Titanium and Aluminum is magnetron-sputtered onto the substrate in a vacuum chamber in this PVD phase.
